Kenya – 3 Weeks, 2 Teams, 1 Ministry Point.

Kenya – 3 Weeks, 2 Teams, 1 Ministry Point. To abide and to dwell. This has been our experience of Kenya. Creation sings of His peace and power with vividly green fields, picturesque hills and gentle rivers that make you feel like you’re living in the psalms. His presence is everywhere. Our team has often been gifted with the opportunity to step away from civilization and seek Him intimately. This was true for Kenya too. There, we were presented with an area where our spirits could dwell with Him and hear His voice, much like a friend sitting next to...

The Bishop That Broke Our Boxes

Bishop Thomas walks into the room, and all forty-three of us stand. We’ve been waiting for this moment. He’s a revered leader in the Coptic Church, known for his long walk with the Lord and deep wisdom. To our surprise, he greets us in Afrikaans, and in the 40-degree heat of Anafora, Egypt, I sit back in my chair and realise something: some of my boxes are about to be broken.  Thirty-six students and seven of us volunteers travelled to Egypt, where the Coptic Church welcomed us with remarkable generosity and care. Miracles in Malawi

After a long bus ride, Eastbound arrived at our accommodation in the early hours of the morning. We were welcomed by a lovely host, who stays on a banana plantation, and his seven dogs barking their hellos. Malawi

Filled with beauty and splendour, this country came and touched our hearts. Smiling faces and lots of high-fives followed Westbound, wherever we went in Malawi.  At out first ministry point we learnt to behold and soak in the beauty of God. We stayed in a village called Chitimba in the Northern Region of Malawi, at a campsite with our hosts – a married couple representing the FCE (Foundation for Cross-cultural Education) organisation. There, we were blessed with wonderful, rare experiences. We attended churches accompanied by singing and dancing with the...

Zimbabwe

Joy and unity in all circumstances. Our team of 19 young people had the privilege of spending a week in a rural village in Zimbabwe, 32km south of Victoria Falls. There, we camped our tents in a homestead and lived alongside the locals, experiencing pieces of their everyday life. The Lord demonstrated much joy and unity in the body of Christ throughout our time in Zimbabwe. From dancing and singing joyously at a funeral, to carrying compost and mulching in complete tandem with the local community, this has been an eye-opening experience with much food for thought for...
