One Year Expedition

Two Distinct Journeys. One Shared Purpose.

We believe God is raising a generation who will carry His presence and His purpose into every corner of the world—young men and women formed deeply, and leaders sent out boldly.

ready, set, go

Choose between:

  1. The Discipleship Journey
  2. The Leadership Journey

Though distinct, both journeys are deeply connected.

They travel across nations. They grow through community. They are shaped by encounters with God, with people, and with the world. And, above all, they carry the same vision:

To see sons and daughters of God become disciples and leaders across the earth — formed in Him, and sent for Him.

Adventure Awaits

GCEX is a Faith based initiative that taps into the energy of young people, the desire to travel, the natural need to know, explore, and experiment. It addresses our inherent need to risk, live on the edge, explore the unknown and discover our Creator.

Each journey is designed for a different life stage, but both are rooted in the same vision: to see lives transformed, leaders raised, and the Kingdom expressed across cultures, communities, and callings.

The Discipleship Journey

“Who is God? Who am I?”

A one-year formation journey for ages 18–21. This is a year to be grounded before you are sent.

The Discipleship Journey is designed for young adults stepping out of school and into the unknown — those asking deeper questions about identity, faith, and purpose.

This is not a gap year. It is a foundation year. A year to get out of your comfort zone, strip down materialistic worldviews, and allow God to shape the core of who you are.

What this journey cultivates:

  • Identity in God — understanding who He is and who you are in Him
  • Character formation — integrity, resilience, godliness, cultural sensitivity, and courage
  • Inner healing — addressing what holds you back so you can move outward in freedom
  • Spiritual rhythms — building a life with Jesus through prayer, worship, fasting, and sabbath
  • Team-based mission — learning to live in community, serve selflessly, and love each other

Participants journey through different locations and communities across the year with each “leg” offering new cultural exposure, hands-on ministry, and discipleship.

Hosts are intentionally chosen — not just for what they do, but for who they are — people who will invest deeply, model faithfully, and walk closely with participants.

The outcome:

  • Young men and women who are not just inspired — but rooted.
  • Grounded in identity.
  • Radical in faith.
  • Ready to step into life with clarity, courage, and conviction.

The Leadership Journey

“What has God placed in me to give?”

A one-year activation journey for ages 21+. This is a year to move from potential into contribution.

The Leadership Journey is designed for those who have already studied, worked, or begun building a life, but sense that there is more – more purpose, more impact, more alignment with what God is calling them into.

This is not about starting from scratch. It’s about refining, releasing, and redirecting what you already carry.

What this journey cultivates:

  • Kingdom-minded leadership — thinking beyond self and toward lasting impact
  • Clarity of calling — discovering your unique contribution and significance
  • Cross-cultural maturity — growing through global exposure and diverse contexts
  • Mentorship from skilled leaders — learning from those who have led faithfully in both small and large spheres
  • Meaningful contribution — using your existing skills to serve, build, and strengthen real initiatives.

Participants travel as a smaller team, engaging with point leaders across sectors — business, ministry, rural development, and beyond. These are men and women who have stewarded influence well and are willing to open their lives, not just their work.

The questions this journey answers:

  • What is my identity and role in the Kingdom?
  • What has God entrusted to me? How do I live it out radically?
  • Where do I fit in and how do I lead?

The outcome: Leaders who don’t just ask “What could I do?” but step forward knowing“This is what I’m here to build, carry, and give.”

Excited – want to read a bit more of a recent team experience …

What to Expect

Training

Training focuses on real-life experiences. Therefore, sessions will be intentionally facilitated by a variety of different speakers.
This process aims to help you realise the magnitude of who God is and what He is doing. As a result, it will help you discover more of who you are and what your purpose is and will encourage you to recognise and unleash your potential.

Journey

Your physical and emotional limits will be pushed as you travel with a 20 kg backpack and step into every form of ministry — serving, building houses, cleaning toilets, feeding the homeless, praying for the sick, and sharing the Gospel with people of different religions.
Most importantly, this journey will show you how to walk in faith, spend time in God’s word, witness while traveling, worship, preach… the list goes on.

Debrief

There will be a facilitated time of formal debriefing at the end of the year. During this time teams will give feedback and process what they have experienced in the year in preparation for the continuation of their life journey.

  • A desire to Serve… a desire to be challenged, to seek and to learn.
  • A spiritual, intellectual and emotional growth challenge.
  • The only model of leadership we believe in is servant leadership. Therefore, participants will be challenged to live unselfishly and simply. Philippians 2 is one of our guiding scriptures in defining servant leadership, it would be beneficial to begin journeying through this scripture.
