Malawi
Filled with beauty and splendour, this country came and touched our hearts. Smiling faces and lots of high-fives followed Westbound, wherever we went in Malawi.

At out first ministry point we learnt to behold and soak in the beauty of God. We stayed in a village called Chitimba in the Northern Region of Malawi, at a campsite with our hosts – a married couple representing the FCE (Foundation for Cross-cultural Education) organisation. There, we were blessed with wonderful, rare experiences.
We attended churches accompanied by singing and dancing with the locals. We swam in Lake Malawi, watched the sun rise, and the sun set over the water. Getting to bond and pray with some the of children and ladies of the community enabled us to learn about their lives and how the Lord meets them in their circumstances. We had the opportunity serve at a youth evening and strengthen the hands of the local youth pastor.
Visiting people in the village and spending the night in their houses was an eye opening experience. Their simplistic way of living was a beautiful reminder that all we need is God. We saw proof of His joy and love in their daily lives. We also had the privilege of hiking 30 kilometres through the mountain, up to Livingstonia, a historical town. We were reminded that His beauty is in every detail of creation.

Our second ministry point, Restoring Hope in Salima, was an opportunity for us to serve the community through harvesting, clearing maize fields, and gardening. Our host explained the importance of redeeming the land and what an impact witchcraft can have on a community. She has a passion for teaching the local people how to take care of the land, bringing hope into the lives of those around her.
We also had the privilege of doing door-to-door evangelism led by the local youth children. It was awesome to see the Holy Spirit work through us, and how His love breaks through language barriers!

Now we’re looking at closing our visit to Malawi with a multi-day Ferry ride all the way up to the North again, waiting for the next adventure the Lord brings our way.
So this concludes our final chapter here. As the locals say, “Mpaka nthawi ina!” (Until next time!)
