Kenya – 3 Weeks, 2 Teams, 1 Ministry Point.

To abide and to dwell. This has been our experience of Kenya. Creation sings of His peace and power with vividly green fields, picturesque hills and gentle rivers that make you feel like you’re living in the psalms. His presence is everywhere.

Our team has often been gifted with the opportunity to step away from civilization and seek Him intimately. This was true for Kenya too. There, we were presented with an area where our spirits could dwell with Him and hear His voice, much like a friend sitting next to us. We are grateful for this time where our spirits have been refreshed, refilled, and strengthened in such a beautiful manner.

Eastbound and Westbound were reunited in Nairobi, and then travelled to Loita Hills, also known as Masai land. There, we lived in our tents and made food on a fire. We learned to function in unity as one big team, loving each other with God’s love.

In these weeks we mostly did manual labour as our form of ministry. Our hosts are building an education centre, and we were divided into groups, each with their own assigned job, to help the project. From preparing ground for a new nursery, to building a wall made out of bottles, we did it all. We helped build new stairs, prepared the roof for a cement covering, and made marula Jam. We even helped our host with admin. God came and spoke depth into us at that time, and He showed us what it means to worship Him while working.

We also had the opportunity to visit various churches on Sundays, walking through the green forest and crossing cold streams to get there. It was fascinating to see how the Masai danced with their heads to worship. The Lord opened our eyes to see His creative beauty in everything around us, and Kenya made us realise that God’s creativity is even beyond our understanding!

We saw His open heart when the Masai people served us with sweet tea on house visits. His joy was evident in the young girls at a school our Global ladies went to visit. We were in awe of His creation when we went on a Hippo walk, under huge trees with colobus monkeys looking down on us, being ankle deep in mud, and fully in the presence of God.

Kenya was a unique and fascinating country. We learned to live as a body of Christ in the beauty of His creation!
