"The land of smiles"

Thailand!! Wow it's an incredible place! Filled with beauties that only seeing in person can be understood! It definitely lives up to its phrase "the land of smiles" everyone here is just amazing. This country is special for me! We started in Bangkok just relaxing at the hostel for a few days doing some important paperwork and then we get too that we are doing our Luke 10 in Chiangmai ! So now I'm really excited ! We get given our teams and then we get ready! We took a 10hour bus ride to Chiangmai to a church where we were going to leave our bags and then head off ! There we met some really awesome Germans that were helping at the church ! That next day we all left and started our journey together ! I was with Lucas, Dani and Reuben we felt like we needed to go north to the boarder of Laos so that's were we started heading and on the way we were blessed tremendously. We felt the Lord tell us that we shouldn't take shoes and one just one small bag with a tooth brush ! And this really got people's attention ! The first night we slept In a nature reserve with tents that were set up for us by the lovely workers there ! They were so excited to help us after we explained what we were doing and why we are doing this crazy thing ! They bought us, food made our beds, brought us clothes and shoes and even gave us money for more food ! The next day we got a bit closer to the boarder and that night we slept in a temple where we got help from some monks !! The whole time we were hitchhiking as a means of transport. We met some awesome people that we ministered to on the road as well as just a few 'back of the bukkie rides' In the rain or burning sunshine ! Some people blessed us with money and food so the whole time we weren't hungry at all ! Every meal was covered ! When we arrived at our destination, Chiangdou, we just walked for a bit until we found a church where we just felt 'maybe we should go in', so we did and the people were about to have a service, so we thought you know it's Sunday we are in a church so we might as well stay for the service ! People asked us to speak about what we were doing and we even got to pray for the church! It turned out, they had dinner there and this was the one Sunday in that month that they were making supper. So we got invited to stay and everyone was so excited about us doing this crazy stuff they took photos with us and then kept giving us food ! They also gave us a gift of money to pay for accommodation at a hostel. So we were blown away by how much they gave us !! Excited, we started looking for a hostel that we had heard about called Mercy hostel! While we were looking I saw this golden clock tower which I'd also heard about and apparently every hour it's does this light show thing ! So I convinced my team to stay and watch. We picked the most random spot right In front of it and waited! There was a lot of doubt that it was going to do something and a few jokes were thrown around that it wasn't ! But eventually it did and it was really one of my best moments ! It was just perfect. I really will never forget how good God was that day ! We found this mercy hostel eventually and as we walked in on the wall, written large, was a scripture from Luke 10 and we freaked out at how perfect this was !! So we booked in to this almost 10point hostel and it was fantastic ! We spent some team time and had a few chats with some of the people there ! And then had a good sleep! The next day we had breakfast and felt that we should stay till 11 which was when we had to check out ! So we messed around for a bit talked to the staff, finding out that this place is owned by a Christian and they are also Christian ! So we were really stoked at this point then we gave some of our money to some staff members as a blessing and then we actually found out that one of the ladies is actually the owner so we were like noo ways !! We did this awesome thing where we all stood In a circle and then all prayed at once !! We left there with another gift. When we opened the envelope, it was the exact amount that we paid for the hostel to stay one night!! So we got that for free !! God is good !! Then we decided to head back to Chiangmai ! So we started hitchhiking and we couldn't get a lift for a while ! Soon we felt that we should take a bus and eventually got back to Chiangmai ! While we were there we didn't have a place to stay so we just decided to walk and see where the Lord leads us and then we just went and sat in Macdonalds for a long while and ate some food there and chilled for the rest of the day just waiting for something to happen. When nothing happened we went to look for a place to sleep! We were almost gonna sleep in a construction site on some cardboard boxes, but we saw a hostel and thought to ask if we could sleep and they rejected us ! So we carried on walking then as a joke we thought it would be fun to actually follow the signs on the road ( a bunch of arrows ) and it lead us straight to a church where we stayed for two days, ministering and praying for them. We got such an amazing chance to share our stories and struggles with the people there, to not only encourage them but to show them that God is amazing !! We also got an insane chance to pray over the people one by one !! After the two days we felt that the Lord Was telling us to leave now and carry on, on our journey and so we started walking once more ! We took our time because we had no idea were to go and then we just went back Macdonalds to get our bearings! There we wrote all our options down on pieces of paper, put them In hat and randomly chose ! The paper we pulled had the option "wait" So we stayed and had time to talk and to get to know each other more ! It was really good! After waiting we walked once more and after a while had gone by, walking by faith was all we needed. We walked right Into another church/coffee shop were we stayed and spent the night. There we got to pray with the kids at the school they had for missionary kids and shared some testimonies and we got some inspirational talks from the lady running everything! Some amazing relationships were built on this journey, not only from the people we met, but also in my team ! Then we went back to the church and slept there that night ! Louw arrived the next day and called everyone together and then gave us a paper with a challenge that we had to hitchhike to Bangkok !! And now it was myself and Calvin together !!! Super excited, because the Lord has just done an amazing work and now I get to do it all over again!! We headed off and again it was such a blessing! The first night we got quite far being blessed with a little bit of money and we got help from the police. They actually created had a road block where they asked the people they stopped where they where going so that we could go with them ! So we got to a train station that evening and we slept/fought off the mosquitos for the whole night ! Then next day a guy buys us bus tickets to Bangkok !!! We were so stoked! Calvin and I took the 9hour trip to Bangkok and then arrived late that evening! We met up with my Luke 10 team. Had some coffee there and eventually slept in the bus station station for two nights ! While we were there Calvin and I watched Thai boxing which was awesome !! Then we eventually got back to where we were supposed to all meet up !! Now we are in Phuket helping at ACF and it was such a blessing to just help them with manual labour. I see in our hosts that they actually deeply care about the people who come to help ! And that really has had a big affect on me ! The Lord did some pretty big things in my life here in Thailand and I had to make some pretty big decisions that affected my life positively ! The Lord is doing some insane works in my life and I'm soo happy to be in his plan!

ThIs heat got some beat...

So after cold and grey Russia we arrived in Cuba..stepping of the plane I was welcomed with the heat of the Caribbean and people talking, laughing and smiling. Driving out of the airport it felt like I went back in time. There is nothing modern in Cuba, everything is still the Same as in the 80's.  I was amazed to see how people just carried on living in that way. The music is everywhere and as you go you catch the one beat from the other one. There's people dancing in the streets in their houses in restaurants. Spanish lesson 101 : where is the bathroom PLEASE (Donde esta el banjo porvavor) is the most important sentence you can learn.  I had such a blast meeting up with the Gladois team and spending time with them. They are such amazing people of God. They give so much of themselves and expect nothing in return. I made a wonderful new friends especially Maggie. We had so much fun climbing up the Grand Piedra, we even hitched hike up and down! Hahahaha I don't know who prayed more for a lift me or her... We were blessed with amazing food everyday and had so much 1 pesO icecream luckily we walked almost 6 km per day 2 or 3 times..hint hint it didn't work... The 1 pesO icecream I carry now on my hips..lol..  From yaelin making really silly jokes and having a who can eat the most grand piedra icecream competition to sleeping in our hamocks on the roof of the church looking out over the Caribbean Sea then me buying a piece of land in the middle of the crossing road aka that means I fell down in the middle of the road with cherise and Jay walking on not hearing me scream and fall luckily Jojo came to the rescue after he stood and laughed at me for not being able to stand up, me and Jay pulling our faces really bad in situations we rather not speak of...sitting on the top of the church roof drinking coffee with cherise at night looking at the stars and having deep conversations about life and Jesus.. getting on the back of a motorcycle for a joy ride just for fun, being completely overwhelmed by the Holy Spirit... road tripping 13 hours on a old schoolbus/truck to get to Santeago and back to Havana, to getting baptised on the 22nd of Mei 2016 yaay and sleeping on the airport in a corner making sure there is a plug to charge our phones and boil the kettle in the morning for some cup of the coffee... laughing so hard that your tummy aches for 2 days..stepping deeper into Gods presense and His plan for my life!! what more do you want?? Sharing all of this with this team of mine just made it even more special. 5 months has past and I can say that this team is truly my family.  Thank you Jesus!

Every time we need You, we are met by love.

We have joy and peace because we know there is a reason and a good ending. The ending is already written down.. That there is no ending. Of this small life, yes, but of my soul no.

When things are good... so is God

When things are good... so is God

Ha! Got you to open my blog. While your here you might as well read a bit furher. The Hidden World team has been in Israel for 29 days. It's been fun, rough, tough and blessed. We are leaving tomorrow to the airport, sleeping there and leaving early Saturday morning to Russia. We went across the whole of Israel. We've been north, east, south and west. We were at the Sea of Galilee, Red Sea and Dead Sea a d Mediterranean Sea. We walked, took busses, taxis and hitchiked to places. We bought food, got food given to us and picked food up from trashcans. We had toilets or bushes, open showers, cold showers, buckets and no water. We slept in a house, room, tent, on a roof, outside and under a shade net. We pulled out weeds, did prayer chains, bible studies, got teachings, sang praise and worship songs, painted, went to a seminar, did prayer walks, witnessed and cleaned a house. One song we sang (very known) goes like this: Every blessing you pour out I'll turn back to praise. I sang it... and paused... what if He doesn't pour out a blessing? Do I stop praising? That's the thing. As a child of God we always get blessings. But a lot of times it looks different than what we expect it to be or look like. Another thing is that many times we can't see the purpose of it yet. God knows it all. He is Alpha and Omega,  the beginning and the ending (Rev 1:8). He already knows what will happen and what happened. He already knows what you're going through and will still need to endure. Don't stop praising and trusting, EVER!  I know it is very difficult to believe that God has our best interest at heart. Because we've never experienced this kind of love and we're used to looking out for ourselves. But it's not necessary to doubt in His plans for you. He knows what His plans are for you. It is plans of peace, not of evil (Jer 29:11). I want to correct my title... God is always good! When it feels like it's going bad and when you go through tribulations and troubles. God is good, always.

The Birthplace...

Bethlehem, a land deprived of peace yet you could feel the very precence of it lingering in the streets of painted walls. There is a old refugee camp where the poor and less privileged live and graffiti all over walls, but I saw môre privliges there then in my own home. People nearly excepting you in their families and no matter what people say about Palestinian people, their intentions to me is one of peace.

Learning to be humble

Arriving at our frist country with such a low expectations thinking that we will probably be camping ouside the church due to lack of rooms but was so surprised to us sleeping in warm beds (no one expected that) but the beds were not the only things that was warm, but the hospitality of loving people that live here was over all the best experience of all.Welcoming us with open arms showering us with love and blessings.Making each of us feel so important to them, appreciating everything BIG and small thing we do and blessing us with so much FOOD. this community blessed us so much, but aside from them, the people we visited who have almost nothing, still bless us with an over flow of food and the most amazing tea (shei) i have ever tasted showing that giving is not bound by what u have but in fact by how much you are willing to give.Learning every day what it means to serve God and being humble in all aspects of our lives.I will always remember this place for the love that is being spread for this love is sacrificial.Ive seen what it means to be humble and a true servant of God and will try to live acording by that example.

Training

wow!! I'm so stoked these past 42 days have been something else. Learning more about myself, God, the people around me and how situations can effect you when you beyond tired. I've really been blessed to be here with all these amazing people. From surviving in the freezing cold nights at our makeshift campsite with a sheltt that didn't even work and our fire being to far away from everything, all the "dear diary" entries made it just all the more funny. My survivor team was the orange team and already in 5days we had made a bond that wasn't broken. I learnt team work is very important and you can't be a one man team otherwise you will get wrecke. Then we got back to jbay and had like an afternoon to chill and we thought the hard stuff was done but nope this week we have to build a lovely road for the school of jbay GLA. That's was definitely a huge task but we all found what we where good at and worked together to make an awesome road. Then we had a chance to build relationships with the children of GLA at their camp over the weekend. We really had a fantastic time there laughing and pball the games. As soon as we got back from the camp we jumped Into the car and headed off to the Transkei to help at Canzibe. We built a fence and helped the orphans and the underprivileged children we played and danced and did lessons with skits for them they really made my heart break, they have so little but their smiles are bigger than anything I e ever seen. We also got an amazing chance to go to the hole in the wall at coffee bay. the last day at the transkei we where told that we are going to do a Luke ten back to jbay in small teams haha wow that was something out of this world my experiences in just those two days of how faith and listening can make a huge difference in The way we live and see things and experience them. Then we chilled back home at jbay for a week while the other teams did their stuff in capetown so I was so happy to finally have a bed and warm shower and got to Sleep late. The next week was lessons from Norm Wakefield, oom Gerrie and  Uncle Joe and woah that stuff was mind-blowing my whole look on life has like been changed. The last couple of days has been very special spending the last bit of time we have with the other teams before we all go off. I'm just so overwhelmed at the fact that my new family is so awesome.

Getting fit for the race!

Getting fit for the race!

It's been an incredible 6 weeks of traing in J-bay, Transkei, Cape Town and all over the Eastern Cape. I've met amazing young people and we've become true brothers and sisters over this few past weeks, learning more about our purpose, ourselves and God. My heart is being transformed by the passion and freshness of Holy Spirit working inside. I've realised that by allowing transformation and welcoming change, your vision gets clearer and your perspective gets stretched. Which has been such a wonderful process for me in this time of training. My eyes have been opened to see little miracles everyday like strangers welcoming us into their houses, feeding us cow stomach lining with a cold glass of Fanta pineapple and asking us about faith. I have great expectations for this year and I know that devine appointments have already been orchestrated for our team which consists of 12 fierce, servant leaders ready with the shoes of peace and buckled with truth. Feel free to join our team on a journey of prayer to keep us covered and motivated ALL DAY LONG.
