Lyrics from my heart

God is so real. He is so present. He goes before me in every situation. He holds my heart in the palm of His mighty hand. What else can I do but worship the King of kings? Through Colombia, Peru and Chile I just realized again how much God loves me and how much He longs to be with me. I missed home more than ever in Colombia and Peru but after lots of prayer, God changed my heart. And I know now that God has something amazing instore for me in this last few days!

I really felt it on my heart to share with you the words of a song that I wrote the other day. It pretty much describe where I'm at:

Always a student...

Wow time really has been a great time with priceless moments and special encounters with Jesus.Colombia, these hands belongs to you God.I've experienced the healing hand of God once more, where God taught me the very important lesson to let people help me and that stubborness is a barrier to healing.Amazon boat trip, discovery 101What is love?? What does it look like?? How do i practically show love??  My security, where do I put my security?? Pink dolphins?? What?? These where the questions I had with stepping on the boat... It was quite a personal journey I went on.But then the fun side of the trip...Sleeping in my hammock - nice!! Getting breakfast in my hammock - even more nice !! Being on the amazon river on a boat in my hammock - the best!!!What an amazing few days that was... to top it off Jesus answered every question and gave me such a big revelation!!Touching ground again in Peru..  Part 1Blessings upon blessings! We served at an amazing church and the people there became like family again from the first day. Saying goodbye this time was harder than usual as I had to say goodbye to my friend who went back to SA. Still God is good in everything He does.Part 2Obedience!! I was asking God from the beginning of the year if I can go to machu pichu, but I just never had peace about going.  And a few days before we had the opportunity to go God said no. This was really hard because I really wanted to go and see this beautiful place. I chose to be obedient to God and stay behind while the rest of the team went.  In this I learned that God will ask you to do things sometimes that will be really hard and that will seem to you like it's stupid or meaningless, but God knows what He is doing. In this time I went with the pastor to go and pray for a girl of the church who had pain in her chest and had some other problems too. God healed her that night. THis touched my heart, if I had been disobedient to God, we would have missed the opportunity for that young girl the receive healing that night. * somewhere there is someone depending on you to do what God has called you to do.Chile you've been good to me! Having middle ear infection for the first 5 days being in Chile and having to go to the hospital to see a Dr I was a nervous wreck. I didn't know how much I had to pay for the consultation or the medicine and I'm missing out on ministry!!Jesus gave me his spirit of peace and he blessed me with the consultation and the medicine I needed.  Again I stood in awe of God!GOD has done so much with this little life of mine.Asking God to show me more of His love not only for me but for the people out there in the world also and oh boy did He show me. I learned from the holy spirit who of course is the greatest teacher. I realised again how big and great our God is. I can never put GOD in a box. It's just not possible!!!!There is absolutely no recipe for how God, Jesus and the Holy Spirit works, every time it's different and special in its own way.I want to be fully submerged in Jesus everyday! Not ankle deep, not knee deep or waist deep but fully submerged in Him from head to toe. I don't want to come up for air I want to breath under the water of who Jesus is.I don't want to drink from Him while only on my knees. I want to lei down and put my whole face in His living water and drink like that.

For my power is greatest when you are weak

Peru is divided in three different climates: Rainforest, dessert & Ocean and mountains - the Andes. We spent one month in Peru. As well as different the climates are so are the people and the ways people live. In no other country we had so many ministry opportunities. I remember one day in one of the villages in the Andes: 3 School visits, later children programm in a park and then in the evening evangelism in a public place. That's a good example of how packed the time in Peru was. Additional it was cold, we couldn't sleep much and some of us felt sick. Our bodies were weak. But God is saying:" My grace is all you need, for my Power is greatest when you are weak" (2.corinthians12; 9) :-) We had the perfet conditions to see that verse coming true! And it did. For example on that day mentioned above, we experienced God's power working through our weaknesses: Children in the school shared open to us about problems in their families in order to pray for, more then 8 of them gave their life to Jesus, one of them was so touched by the Holy Spirit that she couldn't stop crying, in the night God touched many more people's hearts and many got healed. Praise God! This was just one of the days where our bodies were very weak and God's power very big. At a other place on a other day I had fever and was not sure if I'm going to make it through the day, but in faith I went and God really gave me the strength which was necessary. A member of the local church showed us around in the city, called "cusco" until we reached small souvenir markets, where we could spend some time and buy souvenirs. As we were looking around I got to talk to a shop owner who wanted to sell her big wool sweatshirt to me. I explained to her that I would not be able to carry it, there isn't enough space in my bag. So I continued to talk about our journey and shared how God provided for us. She was Catholic and somehow she got touched by a story about God providing for us. Instead of trying to sell something to Thulani, Emanuel and me, she gave everyone of us a hat. God changed something in her heart. To say thank you, we prayed for her. The presence of the Holy Spirit was perceptible. Afterwards she shared with us how happy she is. I believe God did something great on her life. He gave her new faith and hope. Later in the evening we went to a pastor's family to encourage each other. We shared testimonies of God's goodness, worshipped together and finally prayed for each other. One of the women asked for prayer, we surrounded her and started to pray. God's power manifested, she started to cry and fall on her knees. God poured out his love on her. All this happened while the most us were tired , felt sick and just wanted to go home and sleep. But God is good and he uses us in our weakness to glorify his name and to show his unfailing love! One thing we definitely can learn out of that is not to get destructed, but to rejoice about our weaknesses, knowing that God's Power works best.Be blessed!

Learning to Love

Since being in Colombia I often asked myself how do I love other people? Out of a society where everybody looks for their own interests and tries to get the best out of everything I didn't know how to love others. I know God loves us so much that He gave His son for us and how Jesus loved other people way back in the past. But how does it look like today? So I went and sought God for it to show me how to do it and for opportunities to put the theoretical knowledge into actions.  God is faithful and in a prayer meeting of the church in Santa Marta the pastor talked about the most valuable gift we can give to other people - Jesus. Often poor people ask for money, we don't have money with us and we send them away, but at least what we can do is to pray for them and talk about Jesus. One day later God gave me the opportunity to do this and it was the first lesson I got on my journey to love others. Obviously I got reminded on the teachings from Norm Wakefield in Training, when he spoke about God's kind of love to give and to be used, not to get or to use others. To get a deeper understanding I read his book 'Equipped to Love' and learned how to build idolatry free relationships. My theoretical foundation was set, ready to show it in deeds. In a devotion we played a game with the children in where they needed to pick up peas by sucking them on the end of a straw, walking through a little obstacle parkour and putting them into a cup. Most of the time the peas fell down and they had to go on their knees to pick it up again to finish the task.  This is how I felt when we visited homeless people in a big old house provided by the government. We went there to proclaim God's kingdom and to hand out food, toilet paper and soap. Getting out of the car some little and dirty girls already waited for us and wanted to play with us. I grabbed some boxes to carry upstairs for an excuse to not play with them.  We walked into the house and we met in a stinky and unclean patio. Four to six people are living in a small dirty room without beds or toilets. Sickness, prostitution, noise, crying people and more horrible circumstances are part of their daily lives. I stood in the corner and was shocked, but remembered what journey God brought me on.  So what can we do here without love? Paul writes in 1.Corinthians 13:2 that we can move mountains, but without love we are nothing! Same as in the game I needed to bow down on my knees, pray for God's help and jump into this humbling process. Playing with the dirty children, hugging them, loving them and showing them that they are normal humans.  We often see being a Christian as a sacrifice. NO, it is the biggest treasure we can give to others and this evening gave me joy that I haven't had for a long time! It is also an amazing opportunity to love like Jesus, unconditional and without expecting something back.  God teaches me how to have an idolatry free relationship with others and I pray that he will take me deeper to live this completely out.  #

In which reality do YOU choose to live

During the last 42 days I experienced so much of God, Words can't even begin to explain the goodness of our God.For Mexico I was holding  on to the promise that God gave us earlier  in the year. Promising that He will provide a host for us and a place where we can serve and walk in His will. Now keep in mind that we are on a $2 budget for central America for everything!! This means trusting God not 98% not 99.99% but 110%. This was the decision I made to trust God, with everything completely. So let me just quickly tell you how Jesus provided for us in miraculous ways, because He is God and holds the whole existance in the palm of his hand He knows exactly what we need before we even need to say a word. Landing in Mexico, Jesus was already there and our Man of peace basically waited for us at the immigration desk to stamp our passports and welcoming us home for the next 2 weeks. Jesus even organized the church for us where we could serve and meet with the people who we had divine appointments with. Healing and youth were 2 of the main things Jesus placed on our hearts for Mexico. I saw the power of the Holy Spirit move and bring healing not only physically and spiritually but emotionally too. Peoples hearts where changed and touched by God.
