New School Opens it's Doors
We celebrate the goodness of God as students enter the doors of Global Leadership Academy for the first time!
We opened the doors for the first time on Monday 29 August...
When the developers of Fountains Estate, Buchner Propvest, donated 7.5 hectares of land to Global Leadership Academy in 2010, there was nothing but grasslands visible to the eye. Johann McFarlane, the husband of Marietjie McFarlane, principal of GLA, then noted that should anything ever arise from this land it would be a testimony of God’s provision, as the school had no resources whatsoever to build anything for themselves. Now, seven years later, and with many testimonies of God’s provision through people volunteering expertise - man hours and services - the new school building has opened its doors for the first time on Monday 29 August.
The construction of the school started on 25 April 2013, after the team clearly heard the Lord say, “Start with the foundations!” Since then, a small team of 6-8 builders worked through wind and rain to complete the bulk brickwork. Only the past 6 months has there been an escalation in activity on site as more and more work had to be done to complete construction. There are testimonies of many weeks when there was literally no money to pay wages, only to receive donations at the school on the very morning payments needed to be made. Similarly, we received enthusiastic support from local service providers, and wish to thank every company who helped us make the dream of a quality learning environment for students of Kouga a reality.
Monday was the “soft opening” of the school, and we are planning the grand opening over the weekend of 25-27 November when we intend to open the school in true GLA style.
For now, we are enjoying the blessings of fresh air, sunshine and barista-quality cappuccinos from our very own café during break times…
